I listened to the Boku no Miteiru Fuukei album, and everything was an eargasm.
Then I caved and read a LOT and I mean A LOT of album reviews on LJ.
And this is what I do NOT get. Well me and Niki. We were basically conversing about this stupid thing the whole time.
Arashi is known for versatile music. They have poppy music, rock-ish music, rap, techie, angst, ballads etc etc. Solos especially. Because it's their own personalities into their solo. And everytime Arashi releases something different, it's like "THIS IS SO NOT LIKE ARASHI! /whine whine" And I even see comments like "They always sound the same! /whine /whine" Yeah Arashi can't please everyone, but this is ridiculous. If you've listened carefully, the singles they have been releasing consecutively actually sounds different from each other. What makes a song Arashi-like anyways? I think it should be Arashi singing their own song, doing their thing and loving it. XD
"If they want to listen to the old stuff, go listen to their older albums! We are in the 2010 people." -Niki
I second that! xD But to each their own I guess.
Now on a more POSITIVE note. Here's a more positive review of the album. Just to counter all the sadness, I'm going to stay on the positive. :') (and I'll uh, skip the previously released singles cause well, we all know them already. :D)
DISC ONE
Movin' On - I love the beats, my head bops to the beat, and of course, vocals are harmonious and yet I can tell who's singing what. I'm very into it. Sakurap is OHHHBBY MORE <3 This whole song got me smiling from ear to ear. :)
Mada Ue Wo - this song is absolutely LOOOOVE. There's not much to say everything about it is eargasm! And I wanna learn the Sakurap here so badlyyyyyyy. BADLLYYYY. I'll end up feeling so beast after rapping it. XD
Refrain - I listened to this many times before the album was released, and ever since then it's been on loop. I see it as an ending of an anime, and it sounds...peaceful, yet bittersweet. And I don't know the lyrics translations yet. xD The chorus is very catchy.
T.A.B.O.O. - I hear something about it being Kattun like. Shit, the only similarity with Kattun is the title. XD Kattun has a song called Taboo. Maybe it's cause...it's rockish? Is that what makes it like Kattun? Pfft. And I hear something about Gackt pulling it off better? I'm not sure or remember anymore cause I tried to zone out some of the things that do not make sense to me. Love his Engrish btw. And the song and beats feel like it would be an opening theme to an action-like anime. XD (sorry for anime references I've been back into them nowadays) Can't wait for the perf.
Circus - Already the beginning interlude caught my attention. Oooh it's kind of dark and mysterious. I like this a lot. The tempo is great. I like how it went from slow and mysterious and the chorus was more powerful and love that it's not shy of beats.
Gift - I'm a sucker for ballads. I feel it focuses on their vocals with the lack of background and loud instruments. The vocals are great, as always. Goosebumps when notes are delivered properly. I gotta say, Ohno really does pwn. But the rest didn't fail to impress either. <3
Come Back to Me - I love the autotune actually. It fits very well, since he's going for a techno-y feel. I actually really love how Jun experiments with his solos. He wants to try everything, and it's amazing. It's better than just staying consistent and predictable. Cause I honestly didn't expect this from him. He never ceases to amaze me. I can rave to this song. And his Engrish. <3 I thought the Jump Jump Jump Around was Sho for a moment though. XD Until I heard the trails of Jun's voice at the end of Around. XD This solo was sick. :) Definitely excited for the perf. Some bias goes into this probably, but I have really been into the techno-y stuff recently though. Which made me even more herpes when I hear this.
Magical Song - OMG SO CUTE. XD I love this song. Listening to it makes me feel like puking rainbows as I ride a unicorn in La La Land. Yes, that's a good thing. The song fits his happy and cute personality, and I can only imagine the performance. Especially his outift. *still can't get over his uber cute fashion style for his solos* This song can be seen as a more female-like song. But come on, why do we generalize songs based on gender? I've heard some girl groups sing some pretty thug-ish songs. Why can't it be the other way around?
Let Me Down - The ''ah ahhh ah x2" is pretty damn sexy. This song is seductive like, I feel. I really see Arashi's doing many more kinds of songs, and I'm so proud. Sho's sexy Sakurap. Gaaah, I'm at a loss already. <3 Someone stop these men. Gah so sexy. Love this song. XD
DISC TWO
Don't Stop - This seems so fun to sing, I will definitely try to learn the lyrics to this. This is a more pop-py song, and enjoyable. This makes a good opening song to a drama. xD Niki, or Yugi! Make an opening vid for me to this song!!! *U* Hahaha just kidding. But if you do make it I wouldn't be displeased. >3>;
Shizuka no Yoru ni - OMGGGG. I'm sure everyone is in the same page with me on this one. Hail the sexy vocal-ed and talented leader! m(_ _)m <3 He has such a soothing voice. I always look forward to his solos. I pretty much look forward to everyone's, but you know. I'm a sucker for his vocals. ;w; Nothing much to say on this one, it's a darn good solo. Sincere and modest vocals. He never fails to impress. Augh, I wanna jump this man most especially when he sings dammit.
Mukae ni Iku yo - I like the short beginning interlude. :) It's a song that I bet I can get really into after listening a few more times. Because I really like songs when tempo is first slowed, but the chorus is a bit faster. The instruments...is it a harmonica? I fail at naming 'what's that instrument?' xD hahaha. But whatever it is, I like it a bit. :')
1992*4##111 - haha little imp confusing us even with the title. What is this? Like... a Jazzy song? And in the beginning...is it Nino scatting? Don't misunderstand my "..." it doesn't mean I hate it, it means I'm unsure. XD Haha this song is cute. Nino is cute. I see him singing this as he is skipping in the streets, swaying a clear umbrella while it's drizzling. It's the image I get. It's a really cute cartoon-y song. xD The playful piano reminds me of Kumori Nochi, Kaisei. :'3
Kagero - From the start, I already really really love the beginning interlude. And pretty much after that, it flowed. Oh oh, this is a song I'd most likely keep playing on loop. Definitely. I love the background, beats, and their voices. It seems like...an ending for an anime. *gets kicked* Okay I'm sorry, but it does! xD I just imagine an anime'd Arashi swooping in from the sky, then a transition to another member running happily across a grassy field, going against the wind in bird's eye view. Sorry, I wanna be an animator okay! *bricked* XD Basically, I like this song. *shuts up*
Summer Splash! - Sakurappppp, you pwn so much!! I wish to master you!!! TTuTT <3 Singing this song will definitely get me tongue twisted haha. It's not like Attack It!, but still something I can't sing aside from the calmer parts and chorus. Song is very summery. I wish this had a PV. Arashi in their swim shorts at the beach...playing beach volleyball...diving in the sand...then later on playing waist-deep in the sea, splashin each other playfully. =///= Dreams do come true, don't they?
And there's my thoughts and opinions on other people's opinions and thoughts about this album. Hahaha. XD
Here's another person who shares pretty much the same opinion as me: http://kiwiniki-jas.livejournal.com/41709.html
